Mistress of Darkness

A companion by nighttime
I am alone by dawn
I ache for a perpetual lover,
not just one who fades as the sun
brightens.
This night hawk has me by my throat
Mesmerized by her
every move
every touch
Every whisper is magnified by the darkness
I want to strip her of this protective cover
Hold her up to the sunlight and
examine her, like a
gem.
I want to know her, marvel in her complexity
be in her presence, look in her eyes.
The temptation is driving me crazy
I want to tie her to my bedpost
and wait for the light.
